Synopsis

Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) is a decorated Marine who goes missing in action while on duty in Afghanistan. In his absence, his younger brother Tommy (Gyllenhaal) - an ex-con drifter recently released from prison - attempts to support and comfort his bereft sister-in-law Grace (Portman) and her two daughters, with consequences that threaten to shake the foundations of the entire family.
